Lesson 27 This is not the end for me!!

Because so much of what we covered was news to me I don't have any ideas of what comes next, but I am certain that as new things come up I will forge ahead and find out about them. The Learning 2.0 experience has made me unafraid to explore further on my own.

Lesson #26 Telling you what I think

I Loved the whole Learning 2.0 experience. Some of the lessons I know I'll continue to use, some not so much. In regard to life time learning it went right along with my own goals. The world is getting smaller especially with the Web and the more I learned with this experience the more I realized there was to learn. The Web seems to be endless. I am excited to see how far our children, who have grown up very comfortable with the WEB will do with it in the future. I especially liked learning about the things I've heard my own kids talk about that I knew nothing about personally; ie; My Space, Flicker, Wiki's, widgets, and YouTube. It was a bonus that my kids and their friends were very supportive of me and eager to help. I loved bloglines and Librarything. What was most surprising to me was how large a world the web opens up. I felt there was plenty of help available to me throughout the process. I would definitely like to see similar training opportunities in the future. It seems there is always some new technology out there and it only makes sense in the library field to stay on top of it and use the best tools at our disposal, just to stay relevant. If I could go back in time I would definitely tell myself to participate and would encourage everyone else to as well.

Lesson 25 Something to do with that MP3 Player

I'm excited that I can download e- books on the MP3 player. For some reason I had limited its uses to Music alone. It was interesting looking up some of my favorite authors in Catalog Explorer to see if we had any e-books by them. Sadly my first three choices turned up nothing but just browsing through the Overdrive catalog I saw several titles that looked like good reads .

Lesson 24 Podcasts

I went to Yahoo Podcasts and listened to LibVibe Library News. I thought it was pretty interesting. I added it to my Bloglines account. Interesting to see what is news in the Library world beyond KCLS.

Lesson 23 Video In The Post-Betamax World

I can see how YouTube could be addicting. It was fun to view some of the videos. I think there are probably many ways it could be useful to KCLS, beyond story times, and Author Visits. Perhaps training videos, Staff meetings where all could not attend, or Board Meetings. The fact that you can post comments would give all watching the ability to give their input even if they were unable to attend.

Lesson 22 Choose Your Own Adventure

I chose the Web 2.0 Award nominees. I looked at several different categories. For photography I looked at Zoto I felt like flickr was better but then I'm now familiar with flickr, personal organization I looked at HipCal not sure if I would use this Outlook does the same. In the category of Music I looked at last.fm I liked this one, thought I'd check it out again when I have more time. The more we delve into the Web the larger it seems to me. Endless. I'm sure there are lots of things out there we have not yet seen that would prove useful to KCLS. It may take several full time researchers to find them all.

Lesson #21 The Labs of Google

I looked at Google Trends-Google related Links. I could see how this tool could be useful linking other related sites to our Web page. I'm sure we are using something like this already ie: our Early Literacy page is linked to other related sites. I also looked at the Google Page Creator, I thought that was pretty cool.
